Canadian
Air Force uses new release of BoSS Combined for their
Pilot Screening Program
VisImage Systems Inc (VIS)
is proud to announce the release of the latest
version of BoSS Combined, our Automatic Body
Measurement System which provides measurements
for both the standing and seated postures.
The new version
offers improved functionality and better
integration between the two components.
James Kuang, Quality Assurance Leader at
VIS, says, “The
new release is easier to use, and meets all
of our users’ requirements.
We are confident that they will be very pleased
with the new version.”
This release of BoSS Combined
is a key component in the new Canadian Air
Force (CAF) pilot screening system, which
is the first in the world to digitally measure
each pilot candidate and determine which
aircraft the candidate is eligible to fly.
In the past, all-or-nothing criteria restricted
eligibility to a fraction of the interested
candidates, but by comparing the actual measures
of each candidate with the operational requirements
of each aircraft, the doors have been opened,
and many more men and women can be trained
to fly those aircraft.
In addition to pilot
screening, this technology can be used to
screen for candidates for any occupation
where there are operational demands requiring
people fall within a certain range of sizes.
Examples include army, navy, emergency response,
airline pilots, and heavy equipment operators.
Initial
reaction from Pierre Meunier, our research
and development partner from DRDC Toronto
(Defence Research & Development),
is very positive. “BoSS-21 offers
a unique combination of speed, accuracy,
and cost-effectiveness that makes it the
best solution for the Canadian Forces. In
my view, the CAF is putting in place a truly
progressive and unique approach to pilot
selection that will serve it well in the
years to come.”
